ROC (Registrar of Companies)

Government office maintaining company records and receiving annual filings.

The Registrar of Companies (ROC) is an office under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) that administers the Companies Act. There are ROC offices in various states handling company registration and compliance.

ROC functions:

  • Registering new companies and LLPs
  • Maintaining public records of companies
  • Receiving annual filings (AOC-4, MGT-7)
  • Processing changes in company structure
  • Taking action on non-compliance

All companies must file annual returns with their respective ROC office.
